Was wondering what to do on the eve of the Labour Day holiday when the morning papers inspired me to go watch a movie. I was contemplating whether to go Bishan GV to watch or somewhere else instead (as J8 tends to get a little claustrophobic).
Then I thought of Kallang Leisure Park at the Stadium MRT stop. Hahaha! It was decided then, Instincts told me that there will not be that many people there, but I was wrong. Although it did not draw crowds like Bugis or Takashimaya, it was still quite a turn out!
Anyway, the next dilemma was which movie to watch. I could not decide between Ip Man 2, Iron Man 2 or this other Chinese movie filmed by Malaysian singer "Ah Niu". In the end, you should know which one I chose, since the title of this post says it all.
To me, the show was fantastic and I feel like watching it a second time. I liked the way Donnie Yen portrays Ip Man himself. Calm, cool and collected.
By the way, I discovered that Kallang Leisure Park is one of the few places that does not have one single POSBank and/or DBS ATMs!!!! How bizarre!
After watching the movie, I went train-tripping on the Circle Line. There were many ways to reach home: I could either take the Circle Line to Dhoby Gaut and switch to the North South line (red) to go home. Instead, I took the one going to Bishan. After all, there is only a one stop difference.
I think this train-tripping will continue until I feel trippy and has to stop :-P

Special NYE celebration
This year, I did not plan to go out with one whole big group. In fact, I did not really plan anything at all. I thought I was going to spend new year's eve (NYE) alone at home or eating a quiet dinner with the family.
It was just two days ago when my Chinese colleague asked me what I would like to do. I hurriedly came up with an impromptu plan and she agreed upon it. We were going to work first (no choice right? Luckily it was just half a day) and then go watch a movie. After the movies, sichuan hotpot cum hotplate dinner before proceeding to karaoke.

Today being a special occasion, we asked for hotplate too. Costs a little more than usual ($16 instead of $13) and those are chicken chops that you see.
All went as planned and we managed to get ourselves a room at Kbox! We sang from 7 to 10 o'clock. Oh! and the movie we watched was Bedtime Stories by Adam Sandler. We totally had a great time.

Movie watching
I have lost touch with watching movies until very recently. Watching movies alone is no fun and it kinda reminded of my ex who would usually fall asleep unless it was X-men or some action packed movie.
Went to watch Quantum of Solace yesterday with my colleague though, despite the fact that friends and other colleagues alike, saying that it might not be so good this time around.
Anyhow, it was the first time I was watching Daniel Craig on the big screen, especially as a double 07 agent. When his first 007 movie came out, I heard so much bad press about him and how his mum leaked out his supposed secret role, that I felt he was the biggest joke in all of 007 Bond history. Then again, those were all just gossip columns and bad press.
Well, after watching Quantum though, I must say, they did choose him for a reason. He does have quite a good body. Or maybe, he HAD to train for it. Anyhow, it did look good, especially since he was so well suited. It was a very good cut.
I find the plot rather draggy though, but it has to be, in order to maintain that Bond flavour. I suppose it was also because it dealt more with Bond's personal feelings.
You want to know the real reason for watching 007? It's coz we didn't want to squeeze with the other kids to watch Madagascar 2. Move it! Hahaha! Will definitely watch that one.
P/s: The other movie that I caught the last weekend was "The Coffin".

What a lazy day kind of day, except...
Was supposed to go to Ubin with my colleagues today, but the weather wasn't too promising. It was threatening to rain. We all decided to sleep in.
Watched some TV, did some blogging (as you can see from my previous postings) and planned to go watch a movie on my own. Then I learnt that one of my grand aunts have passed away. This saddened me quite a bit as she was my favourite grand aunt. She was always laughing loudly (like me) during any sort of family gatherings, which is usually at birthday and wedding dinners. Her older sister was the more sarcastic one and never fails to tell you off.
Anyway, still went to watch Mama Mia! but with Dad and Mum instead. Quite surprised that Dad would want to watch it as he is quite picky about movies. The are certain genres that he just would not watch. I guess Meryl Streep got him to go and watch it.
We went to Downtown East, which was not too bad at all, except Mum did not like the noise or crowd one bit. It gave her a splitting headache. I was just having fun, eating Superdog hotdog and enjoying the movie. I was tapping my toes the beat of the music most of the time.
Said part came when we went for the wake. Although I know that she has been called home to be with the Lord, I just feel really sad still. I just went to visit her on September 1st when I had a Teacher's Day holiday. Little did I know that it will be my last.
I guess this is my wake up call to visit my own granny more often, as always find some kind of excuse not to. Maybe subconsciously, I do not want to see them get old, but I do know that time is running out and I should not delay any longer.

Po!
It has been a tiring day of entertaining, fun and chit chatting. Not really going into Rayee's first month celebration yet, but just wanted to say that Po of Kung Fu Panda fame is sooooooo cute! At the same time, it's a little scary too for he reminds me of my housemate's husband. The way he talks and how clumsy he is, is so like my housemate's husband.
Anyway, if you want a good laugh and stress reliever, go watch this. Oh! I also thought that the one who dubbed Po's father sounded like the guy who always acts as triad boss in movies and television. I was right!

Happy weekend!
It has been a truly busy week. I am physically and mentally drained. There were good and bad stuff. I guess the good stuff 'over-ruled' the bad ones, so it is OK.
Meeting up with friends later to watch Kung Fu Panda and tomorrow, going for nephew Rayee's first month celebration. It is not quite his first month yet, but his mummy wanted it to coincide with a Sunday to make it more convenient for everyone.

Over the weekend
Friday...more quiet solitude
Went to watch Iron Man, finally. On my own. Never felt better. There was premature happiness that Kelly might join me after my movie (since she called me and messaged me halfway into my movie. Did the despicable thing of sms-ing during the show).
However, when I called her back after the show, there was no reply. Messaged her, no reply. I walked on to my next favourite past time: HMV CD-listening. Found this treasure of a CD having 100 of those all-time favourite TV theme songs! These included Growing Pains, Sesame Street, Melrose Place, Cheers and more. Funny thing was that they did not have Charles in Charge, which somehow got stuck in my head after all these years.
After 10.30pm, I headed for my car with said satisfied purchase. I had to avoid that stupid ERP (money sucking gigantic toll machine that works till then). I know, I did say I would be able to spend less by going into town less, but I consider this minimal purchase. I guess our 'friends' from the LTA (those guys responsible for this ERP thingy) must have been looking from the other side of the coin: The longer you stay in town, the more you spend.
I also kind of understand now, why Dad used to plan and be so calculative about ERP gantry points and parking places. It was quite tricky for me going into town for the ERP rate goes from $1.50 to $2.00 at 6.00pm. The $1.50 charge is only from 5.30pm to 5.59pm.
However, my per entry charge for the car park only starts at 6.00pm. Timing must be real accurate and as luck was on my side, I was able to save some money. Plus I also managed to search out the car park that has the cheapest rate without making me feel like it is a dangerous place to park (read: Far East Plaza car park).

Went for lunch at Pasta Cafe and I must say, I am impressed with their Parma prosciutto parmigiana pasta. Light and tasty. Reminds me a little of the one that I had in Melbourne on Degraves Street but that one had stir-fried rockets with it, which made it extra fragrant. A slightly different taste.
Wanted to watch Kung Fu Panda at night but as it was the weekend and school holidays, all tix were sold out. SOLD OUT!!!! I absolutely hate GV. OK, make it a love-hate relationship. Anyway, it is not my first choice of cinema when it comes to movies.
Ended up shopping and then heading to Chinatown to this very un-assuming coffee shop selling Sichuan and Northern China food fare. It had those Sichuan barbecue skewers which were tres delicious and there other stuff that were really good too! Didn't take any pics as I was real hungry but promise to do so the next time.
Took a look at the name of the shop and directly translated, it means "China Restaurant". In Chinese, it is 中国餐厅. Will be back there soon.

Went home to sleep some more and watched McBride on Hallmark Channel. Lurrve the mystery solving crap and the suspense crap too. Keeps me on my toes, sort of.
Well, I am actually really nervous about my new job and am trying hard not to think too much about it. Will face it tomorrow. For now, it is snooze time.

Oh!!! Before I forget to blog this down, I am so happy that the library played such a big part in Sex and the City movie. She actually borrowed books from the New York Public Library and wanted to hold her wedding there!
